lá. No meu caso passei 10 anos entrevistando e contratando estagiários e
profissionais da área de TI, então estarei participando das discussões por

Caros colegas brasileiros,



Espero que esteja tudo bem com vocês. Eu gostaria de dar seguimento ao
processo de recrutamento para a vaga do National Programs que foi
destacada como parte do processo de desenvolvimento da presença da
Wikimedia no Brasil. Esta é a continuação da série de conversas que
tivemos sobre as listas, no Brazil Catalyst Project e em pessoa, com
aqueles que se reuniram com Jessie e comigo no Brasil em meses
recentes.


Assim como alguns membros da comunidade referiram na sua mensagem após
uma reunião realizada na Wikimania e adicionalmente discutida num
thread recente que se seguiu ao anúncio da Jessie a propósito do
começo do processo de recrutamento, nós gostaríamos de ter a
comunidade envolvida no processo de recrutamento para a vaga do
National Programs. Isto irá ajudar a garantir que os candidatos
envolvidos no processo, por um lado são avaliados pela comunidade e,
por outro, aprendem como funciona a comunidade no Brasil. Embora esta
seja uma nova inovação na forma como recrutamos, estou confiante que
podemos executar um processo inclusivo que nos pode ajudar a todos a
identificar o melhor candidato para o papel.


Eu gostaria de sugerir dois elementos da comunidade para o processo,
tal como foi sugerido na discussão na lista:


1. Uma tarefa pública – nós pedimos aos candidatos que preparem um
memorando sobre a sua idéia inicial sobre a situação, como eles a
vêem, e sua idéia inicial sobre as prioridades do seu papel. Eu vou
pedir que os candidatos partilhem os seus planos em Português e Inglês
numa wiki pública (ou meta ou br.wikimedia.org) para comentários, e
então abordar a comunidade sobre a substância do seu memorando. Eu
gostaria de garantir que os candidatos são anônimos, uma vez que
precisamos de proteger a confidencialidade do processo de busca. A
maioria dos candidatos estarão empregados presentemente e não queremos
comprometer os seus empregos atuais. Nós usaremos  os planos e o
dialogo/feedback dos planos na avaliação dos candidatos.


2. A inclusão de dois membros da comunidade nas entrevistas em pessoa
a serem feitas no início de Janeiro (de dia 5 a dia 7) – eu gostaria
de ter duas pessoas da comunidade comigo nas entrevistas com os
candidatos finalistas no início de Janeiro em São Paulo (iremos
providenciar viagens para o pessoal voar para SP). Essas duas pessoas
irão participar comigo e com a equipa WMF na escolha do candidato a
quem iremos oferecer a vaga. Eu pediria que as pessoas selecionadas
tenham alguma experiência anterior entrevistando candidatos para
empregos, uma vez que é uma habilidade fazer bem uma entrevista. Eu
gostaria também de ter pelo menos uma dessas pessoas vinda do grupo
que está trabalhando no plano do capítulo, porque eu vejo a relação
com o capítulo como importante. Eu peço que a comunidade discuta e
nomeie duas pessoas para esse papel. Se você precisar de assistência
na gestão do processo, nós podemos ajudar, mas por nós não há qualquer
problema se o processo surgir da comunidade. Nos diga, por favor, quem
está nomeado até dia 23 de Dezembro, para que a gente possa tomar
todas as providências para a viagem e outros preparativos.


Finalmente, visto que eu vou estar em São Paulo, de dia 5 a dia 7,
para as entrevistas (Sim, outra curta viagem!)... seria ótimo se a
gente se pudesse encontrar com aqueles que estão por perto. Eu
gostaria de sugerir Sábado à tarde e à noite (com um jantar casual).
Estou ansioso por estar com o pessoal que estiver por aí.

Dear Brazilian colleagues,
Hope all is well. I'd like to follow up on the engagement process for
the National Programs consultancy that has been posted as part of the
process of developing Wikimedia's presence in Brazil. This is a
continuation of discussions that we've had on the lists, in the Brazil
Catalyst Project and in-person with those who met with Jessie and I in
Brazil in recent months.

As raised by community members in their note following a meeting held
at Wikimania and discussed further on a recent thread that followed
Jessie's announcement of the beginning of the recruitment process, we
would like to have community involvement in the recruiting process for
the National Programs position. This will help ensure that the
candidates involved in the process both get reviewed by the community
and learn about how the community works in Brazil. Even though this is
a new innovation in how we recruit, I'm confident that we can run an
inclusive process that helps us all identify the best candidate for
the role.

I'd like to propose two community elements to the process as suggested
in the discussion on the list:


A public assignment - we ask candidates to prepare a memo on their
initial thinking on both the situation as they see it and their
initial thinking on the priorities for the role. I'm going to ask that
the candidates share their plans in Portuguese and English on a public
wiki (either meta or br.wikimedia.org) for commentary and then engage
with the community on the substance of their memo. I would like to
provide for anonymity on the part of the candidates, as we need to
protect the confidentiality of the search process. Most of the
candidates will be employed currently and we don't want to compromise
their current positions. We will use the plans and the
dialogue/feedback on the plans in the review of candidates.

Inclusion of two community members in the in-person interviews to be
held in early January (from the 5th to the 7th) - I would like to have
two people from the community join me in the interviews with the
finalist candidates at the beginning of January in Sao Paulo (we will
provide travel support for folks to fly into SP). These two people
will participate with me and the WMF team in the decision making on
the candidate to offer the position. I would ask that the people
selected have some prior experience interviewing candidates for jobs,
as it is a skill to do an effective interview. I would also like at
least one of these people come from the group that is working on the
chapter plan, as I see the relationship with the chapter as an
important one. I request that the community have a discussion and
nominate two people for this role. If you would like assistance in
managing the process, we can help, but we are comfortable with a
process that is community derived. Please do let me know who is being
nominated by 24 December, so we can work on travel arrangements and
other preparation.
Finally, as I am going to be in Sao Paulo for the interviews from the
5th to the 7th (yes, another short trip!)...it would be great to get
together for a meetup for those who are around. Might I suggest
Saturday afternoon and evening (with a casual dinner). I look forward
to spending time with those who are around.
