    Ontem mesmo mandei um e-mail de protesto Ã  Internet Watch Foundation (IWF). Foi apenas um pequenino e-mail, mas provavelmente se juntou Ã  avalanche de protestos que eles estÃ£o recebendo.

    Ã‰ interessante ver que, mesmo retirando da lista negra o artigo em questÃ£o, a IWF insiste na interpretaÃ§Ã£o de que a imagem Ã© imprÃ³ria ("the image in question is potentially in breach of the Protection of Children Act 1978"), conforme nota divulgada hoje.

    A IWF fez um mea culpa parcial: reverteu a censura, mas insistiu na impropriedade da foto. Disse que, nos casos em que essa imagem estiver hospedada fora do Reino Unido, nÃ£o vai adicionÃ¡-los Ã  lista negra, mas que, do contrÃ¡rio, estando sob jurisdiÃ§Ã£o britÃ¢nica, a IWF pode adotar os procedimentos normais (e assim adicionar Ã  lista negra os arquivos que estiverem no RU).

    Por causa dessas manifestaÃ§Ãµes dÃºbias e incoerentes, na discussÃ£o do artigo aparecem vÃ¡rias dÃºvidas e crÃticas Ã  IWF. Alguns disseram que, considerando a foto imprÃ³pria, nÃ£o haveria fundamento legal para a IWF retirar a WikipÃ©dia da lista negra. A IWF deveria reconsiderar a classificaÃ§Ã£o da imagem para entÃ£o desfazer a censura. Outros questionam o poder de uma entidade privada realizar uma funÃ§Ã£o pÃºblica (regular a liberdade de informaÃ§Ã£o) e determinar o que os britÃ¢nicos podem acessar ou deixar de acessar.

    EstÃ¡ interessante. Ã‰ um bom caso para sentirmos o peso da marca WikipÃ©dia e para sentirmos tambÃ©m como a prÃ³pria WikipÃ©dia (incluindo a Wikimedia Foundation) reage.
