[Wikimediaau-l] WMAU update

Hi all,

Yesterday we had a committee meeting, and formally resolved to open a
bank account. Yay. :)

Thanks to Delphine we also now have a logo.

In my last mail I mentioned the need for the new statement of
purposes. (<http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikimediaau-l/2008-May/001333.html>)
It is at <http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Australia/SoP> and
has had a good amount of attention so far. If you haven't looked at it
yet I encourage you to go read it and the comments on the talk page,
and leave any new comments you think of.

In my last mail I mentioned one week of feedback and one week of email
voting. At the meeting yesterday this was thought to be rather too
long and unnecessarily private (voting at member meetings is not
private, after all), so we will conduct voting thus:
- Thursday 00:00 to Saturday 23:59 inclusive
- on the mailing list
- using one of the following statements:
* "I am in FAVOUR of the proposed new statement of purposes for
Wikimedia Australia."
* "I am AGAINST the proposed new statement of purposes for Wikimedia Australia."
* "I ABSTAIN in the matter of the proposed new statement of purposes
for Wikimedia Australia."

If you don't use one of these statements, your comments will be
interpreted as general discussion and not a vote.

If you feel the new SoP is problematic in any way, I strongly strongly
encourage you to raise your concerns on the meta talk page or this
list, ahead of time.

So on Wednesday night I will start a new thread called "SoP voting" or
something similar, and people can reply to that thread with their
vote.
