Program activities

GLAM

   -

   December 18th - we had a second Wikipedia lecture for members of the
   "preserves marine heritage" group (some of the Israeli Navy personnel) at
   the Younes & Soraya Nazarian library, at the University of Haifa .


GLAM: The National Library

   -

   Two Editing workshops for librarians and staff of the National Library
   were held in December. The purpose of the workshops is to train library
   staff to guide new editors in Wikipedia.  The intention is to hold a
   monthly workshop to the general public. In December, a very successful
   experimental workshop was held.
   -

   202 photos of the Rothschild

the city of Jaffa from the early 20th century were uploaded to
Commons.

Wikipedia Winter Hackathon


   - Over sixty volunteer programmers gathered in “Campus Tel
Aviv<http://www.campustelaviv.com/faq/>”
   space on December 26th for a day MediaWiki learning, bug fixing and
   developing of Gadgets and other tools based on Wikipedia articles. This was
   the second Hackathon organized by Wikimedia Israel following the success of
   the first Israeli Hackathon last

Educational and Academic Collaborations

   On December 5th, we had another editing workshop for 15 MA students at
   the NCJW Women and Gender Studies Program Tel Aviv University, as part of
   the ongoing cooperation.


   -

   On December 11th, there was a Wikipedia lecture followed  by an editing
   workshop (on December 18th)  for the students and academic faculty of Tel
   Aviv University, at the Social Sciences and Management Library.
   -

   On December 26th, a Wikipedia lecture of "How to write the encyclopedia
   everybody reads?" was given to students at the School of Communication
   at Netanya Academic College.  Following this lecture, the students began
   co-editing the article:

   December 30th – A Wikipedia Introductory lecture was given to ninth
   graders gifted pupils as an Wiki in Education cooperation.

   Wiki-Air – 2 Wiki-Air  flights took place in December, that allowed us a
   glimpse of the snowy mountains of Israel (a very rare sight in Israel) and
   produced about 300 freely licensed

   December 6th - Elef Milim ) Thousand Words Tours) – a tour held to the
   Northern Golan Heights attended by about 17 Wikipedians and there were over
   260 new photos uploaded to Wiki Commons.
