Ah - wow. Maybe in those cases, a clear message to that effect is
worthwhile on the page?

Incredibly, I think they're actually complying with the GFDL. Link to
GFDL licence, *and* link to Wikipedia authors list.
I think I'm starting to think that if Wikipedia credited
photographers, then people who reuse Wikipedia material would be more
likely to do so too.
