They had a poll and decided to keep it.

It's on right now, though I had to hit random page a good two dozen
times or so before hitting a page where the flagged revision wasn't
the most current.

They backed off some of the more noisy UI features, so you mostly
don't see it there, now.  It's pretty transparent. ::shrugs::
