Did you try [[Like this one]]?

I wonder if it would be possible to make a hack or extension that
would actually give you an edit page for protected red links used as
examples. You could edit and preview but not save. (with a message at
the top saying you can't save)

A side effect of this would be a way to practice editing besides the sandbox.
