This must be Somebody's Law in action. Any discussion of how to get more work out of volunteers moves in the end from adding people to subtracting them. A discussion with them of what the work is ends up with the comment that they should do less discussing and more work. (The second at least has better sense on its side. I suppose I might have fallen for the first at times in the past.)
