Well, it's perfectly true. I can't speak for the present situation; I was an
active clerk for maybe six months a year or two ago. However, back then, I
saw a lot of crap going down by editors who were eventually heavily
sanctioned or even banned. They probably weren't idiots in the literal sense
of the word, but they expended a lot of energy in fighting a case where they
were obviously in the wrong. I presume that as the project has grown, the
idiocy has grown proportionately.
