Interesting read, but the analogy doesn't work. For example, blocking
and protecting doesn't prevent reading, just editing. One person
reading/editing an article doesn't prevent anyone else from doing so.
Vandalism is easily reverted. IP's are blocked reluctantly because it
can stop other anon users from editing, it doesn't just discourage
them.

And the final conclusion makes no sense at all - what does "borrowing
and not returning" correspond to?
