You have to explain this because I'm trying to work out what possessed
you to do this in this way.

Surely one of the first lessons of Wikipedia that everyone learns is
that if you plan to make a change, and it may be controversial, you
should discuss it in the appropriate places first. You manifestly
failed to do this.
