Actually, since Wikia has its own restrictive standards (
http://wikia.com/wiki/Wikia_creation_policy) about what content is
acceptable in their space, and Wikia keeps all of the Google ad revenue for
itself; wouldn't it be even better to encourage such content to find a home
on Centiare.com, which is much less restrictive, and where the contributor
can keep 100% of the Google AdSense revenue (and Amazon Affiliate revenue,
for that matter) for their own? If the topic is about a legal entity, the
contributor "owns" the article. If the topic is general, it's subject to
community editing.
James, there was some talk about Wikimedia Foundation trying to separate the
use of Foundation space to "sell" the concept of Wikia; so, when you mention
Wikia as a viable alternative, it would probably help them (from a conflict
of interest standpoint) to mention some other possibilities, too -- such as
Centiare, PBwiki, etc.
