I am amused by your belief that anyone editing Wikipedia must abandon
all legal recourse.
Since you have explicitly stated that you believe No Legal Threats
prohibits Wikipedians from using the legal system to protect property
rights, the next question would be:
If one Wikipedian physically assaulted another and the victim pressed
charges, would you ban the victim?
