Certainly, this is the best way to go about something like this. I
wasn't saying that the silent page-blanking was "okay." The sort of
slack I was talking about cutting was to respond "oh, I see, you're just
trying to delete that bit at the end because it's libel. You weren't
going about things in the best manner, though, here's how to handle a
situation like this in the future to ensure we get the right idea..."

Not cutting slack would be more along the lines of "Oh, I see you're
just trying to delete that bit at the end. Nevertheless, you blanked the
entire article instead. BANNED!"
