I've read a few articles about tinnitus and one thing which none of  
them (including ours) explain is why the word is "tinnitus" when  
you'd think it ought to be "tintinnitus."

(Oh, the bells, bells, bells, bells, bells, bells, bells, the  
tinnabulation of the bells... see what I mean?)
