I've had the same thought, but there are lots of unreplaceable nonfree
images. I'm sure the art types would be freaked out if paintings by
recent artists all had red borders around them - especially for some
modern works where it might not be clear whether the red border was part
of the painting or not. :-)
It would however, be spiffy if an image tagged as replaceable had all
its article uses marked visibly. Right now people are doing it manually.
Perhaps one could generalize, so that, say, uses of an image in articles
other than the ones listed in "fairusein" would also be flagged visibly.
One truly sneaky way to "mark" would be to display a blank image and/or
give it a zero size, heh-heh-heh.
