Continuing the analogy, the women-only clubhouse (mailing list) in
question is built on community land (WikiMedia Foundation servers). I
think it's entirely reasonable for members of that community to be
objecting to this.

WikiMedia Foundation shouldn't be supporting a mailing list founded on a
fundamental principle of gender discrimination. Wikichix already has a
separate host for their wiki, why can't they host their own mailing list
there too?
