It doesn't, because "trial" is still just as misleading as "experiment"
without some plan for evaluating the trial's results and "change with
unspecified duration" is just a euphemism for "change with indefinite
duration."

I don't have any fundamental problem with making this a permanent change
provided a rigorous analysis actually shows that it helped the
situation. I'm told that an analysis has been done. So there's an easy
and obvious way to make me quit complaining about this issue.
