I wanted to remind a neat point of history.
Categories have been discussed for a long time, a long time.
I think I remember that at some point it was suggested that they could 
be only created by sysops, and after much concerting, so to avoid 
anarchic creation of hundreds of categories.

It is funny to remember that :-)
I love alive wikipedia, with its anarchic growth :-)))
