 Locally one of the groups that  helps the (I believe) mentally 
handicapped calls itself the "Association for Community Living".  Such a 
name strikes me as pompous, and I would be convinced that it was not the 
mentally handicapped who conceived the term.  

Although I'm decidedly on the left end of the spectrum it doesn't stop 
me from complaining about terminology that obscures reality.
