Hi Ram-Man,

thanks for your comments (and for your continuing work on the city  
pages!); the disagreement was mainly about whether a sysop should protect  
pages when he himself makes changes to the article. Ed has agreed to only  
freeze pages in conflicts in which he his not involved in any way, so this  
is fine with me and, IIRC, others who complained.
