Sorry, but I don't see how spending EUR2'500 on additional RAM to
support a single tool is an effective use of WM-DE funds.

Perhaps you could consider a different implementation language?  I don't
think shell scripts and SQL stored procedures are particularly
well-known for being memory-efficient.
