Is the PCRE version 8+? This will tell you the version (if it's loaded):

I know older versions of PCRE can cause problems.

The BBB has 512 MB RAM, not expandable. I run FreeBSD from a 60 GB microSD

I watched 'top -tw' while producing the crash and there was no swap use at

I'm no expert in interpreting this but I don't get the impression it's
thrashing.
Any thoughts on the pcre clue and the fact that it always dies at right
