Hi,
The Semantic Forms extension defines its own tab, called "Edit with form".
I'd like to create a keyboard shortcut for that tab.
The problem is, the ASCII letters for keyboard shortcuts are almost all
taken:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Keyboard_shortcuts#Default_Shortcuts
(If you sort by "keyboard key", it's easier to see.)
Now, there seem to be some errors in this table:
- The table claims that the "whatlinkshere" key is "b", but it seems
to be
"j"
- The table claims that the "recentchangeslinked" key is "c", but it
seems
to be "k"
- The table claims that the "article" key is "a", but it seems to be
"c"
Thus, the table makes it look like the available shortcut keys are "j" and
"k", but really it seems like they're "a" and "b".
I know of two extensions that have their own shortcut key: Wikibase, which
took "g", and VisualEditor, which took "v". "g" was
available, although "v"
was not it - in core MediaWiki, it's already used for "compare selected
versions" in the history page. If VE is installed, VE's use of the key
simply overrides core MediaWiki's, for better or worse.
Anyway, what is the protocol for an extension taking a shortcut key?
Should I just take "a" or "b", or are they unused for a reason?
Conversely,
maybe I can take something other than an ASCII letter - a number, perhaps?
