My suggestion if you want easy tabs is to use the foreground skin. See:

http://foreground.thingelstad.com/wiki/Tabs

Get the skin at:

https://github.com/thingles/foreground

Otherwise go with:

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Header_Tabs
