Thank you for being more specific, but I still seem to be having
problems with this export page. The good part is that I am now
getting the XML prompt and am able to download the file that is being
produced. The bad part is that no matter what I enter in the text
box, I always get the EXACT SAME FILE which is nothing more than a
list as follows:
<mediawiki
xmlns="http://www.mediawiki.org/xml/export-0.4/"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.mediawiki.org/xml/export-0.4/
http://www.mediawiki.org/xml/export-0.4.xsd" version="0.4"
xml:lang="en">

I'm still confused. What category should I

You can leave the input box blank. It is a convenience for filling
pages from categories, so you write there a category name, like
'Wikipedia_bots', press Add and have the textarea filled with pages on
that category.
The export button only cares with the textarea content.
