[Mediawiki-l] code tags break the numbering in lists

Try something like the following, inserts a line break without forcing renumbering, don't know whether this will work for multi-line code, though:

# step 1
# step 2
# step 3
# : <code>multi-line code </code>
# step 4
# step 5
