Thank you Platonides for your help, but it seems the auth plugin is for a website which
already has authentication.
However, my MW is on another machine/website which does NOT have authentication.
MachineA is my customer portal website, and is using a mysql database for user login.
MachineB is my MediaWiki, and its main website does NOT need any authentication.
What I want is to make use of the user account database on MachineA for my MW's
authentication on MachineB.
Is the auth plugin used for this kind of scenario?
Thanks again,
Ross

Create an auth plugin, it will be easier
