Please help ...
Despite my best efforts, I'm still finding that it's impossible to get
my MediaWiki installation to use any other theme other than the default
monobook one.
To explain further, please read the following snippet from an earlier
posting of mine
Having recently installed MediaWiki, I'm trying desperately to make
some
site wide changes my Wiki's theme of
"skin" so as to change its
overall
look and feel. To be more precise about this, what
I'm trying to do is
to install a third part theme called "Nullbook" developed by somebody
called Samat Jain. Details on his theme is available here:
In an effort to change the default skin, I edited the following line of
code in the file LocalSettings.php:
$wgDefaultSkin = "MySkin";
Where "MySkin" is to be the name of the skin I wish to use.
Following advice from this list, I also amended LocalSettings.php so as
to allow for the use of smaller URLs with the following lines of code:
$wgScriptPath = "eurowiki"
$wgArticlePath = "/wiki/$1";
$wgScriptExtension = ".php";
Given that I'm running the wiki on a windows box, I opted to use XAMPP
for the complete installation with Apache and MySQL. The path therefore
to the installation and the index.php file from my server's root is as
follows:
xampp/htdocs/eurowik/index.php
The directory "eurowiki" being were the actual wiki code is located.
Additionally, I also edited httpd.conf within my apache installation s
as to include a redirecting alias. What I want is for all URLs whilst
the wiki uses whilst it is running of localhost to take the form:
http://localhost/wiki/Article_Page where "Article_Page" is the name of a
given article.
It follows from this that in order to use Samat Jain's Nullbook CSS
code, I'd need to create an article within the MediaWiki namespace thus:
http://localhost/wiki/MediaWiki:MySkin.css
and copy his CSS code into it. After which, I simply clear my browser's
cache and restart Apache.
Well this I've done but I still can't get it to work. What am I doing
wrong?
Any help, greatly appreciated.
