These are the files which were "overwritten" by a new upload, ie. the 
file history. Deleted files are not saved (unless you specifically 
configured it to do so, and i doubt it was available for 1.5).

I depends what you want...

Do incremental backups. Once a file goes into the archive, it won't 
change (well, if disappears if you delete the image page).
