This is very helpful. I did not know anything about "have php configured
with a correct folder to store sessions". Will look into it. If anybody
can share some details, please do help. Thank you very much.

Hello,
I was working with Mediawiki 1.11.0 on IIS and just made a little change
to
a page content (removing the trivil Title Page line)
and got the
following
error when try to save the change: "Sorry! We
could not process your
edit
due to a loss of session data. Please try again. If
it still doesn't
work, try loggin out and loggin back in." I logged out and in but the
error still shown. Anybody knows what does it mean by "loss of session
data"?

Whenever you edit a page, uplaod an image or does in any way a
significant action to the wiki, you're given a token which you must pass
back to verify you're indeed doing that request (this avoids a different
web impersonating your actions when you're logged in). Sometimes, the
token is not found, it may have expired, and just saving on that page
usually works.
Given the considerable trouble you had to configure IIS for PHP, do you
have php configured with a correct folder to store sessions? (that would
be session.save_path)
