[Mediawiki-l] syntax for captioning and reducing an image without link

We are trying to put captions below images and reduce them at the  
same time in MediaWiki.
We can live with or without a frame.

However, we don't want the little button showing that links to the  
full size image.

For example, as in Example 7 here
http://nutmeg.conncoll.edu/wiki/index.php/Images_Help
But without the little boxes link, as in Example 4 (but this image is  
not resized, it's full size)

We would rather resize in MediaWiki and not before uploading.

We tried everything, but ran out of ideas, I think I hit all the on- 
line help

etc, etc...

Is this possible and if so how? Thanking anyone for help.
