I agree.  I think sometimes, as developers, we get to close to the metal
and further from the users.  We don't see what joe average *needs*.

The people here are all technical, many developers.  But they just have
no need or desire to learn another "language".  And they prefer to see
their stuff is *visual* format.

Most java developers I know don't really use plan text any more.  The
use IDEs which put all the pieces together.

Hmmmmmmmmmm ... that makes FCKeditor or something like it sound a
really nice option for corporate intranets. (My current strong focus.)
