[Mediawiki-l] extract statistics from mysql database directly

Hi,

I'd like to monitor the changes in a wiki automatically by a (shell/mysql)
script which is run periodically for example. Is there an easy way to
get statistics like

    number of articles
    number of registered users
    number of read accesses on article pages
    number of edits

directly from the mysql database?
