[Mediawiki-l] $wgNamespacesToBeSearchedDefault

I see that there is a patch on bugzilla from a couple of years ago  
for bug 3188.  The patch is supposed to allow users who are not  
signed in to use the default search settings in  
$wgNamespacesToBeSearchedDefault.  Anyone have experience with this?   
Any chance of getting it added to the main distribution?  For my  
wikis, searching Category as well as Main by default would be good.
