[Mediawiki-l] Hosed MediaWiki installation?

Are you sure you followed the update instructions correctly?  That's not the
only possibility, but it's probably a good place to look at first.

You uploaded the 1.6.9 files, replacing the existing ones, and then ran
update.php?
