It might be possible to create an extension which uses imagemagik to
automatically resize images which are too large, but still permit
them to be
uploaded.
That's the way it should work by default, IMHO. It would make it
easier for people who don't know a pixel from a database record to
contribute.
Or else you have people with new digicams uploading their 8+
megapixel images.
