[Mediawiki-l] How to change default language of a wiki ?

Dear Wiki users,

I've installed a wiki version 1.9 with default language german.
I tried to switsch the default language to english.
Therefor I changed the $wgLanguageCode = "de"; to $wgLanguageCode = "en";
in both of my  LocalSettings.php  files which I found in my main 
mediawiki directory and
my mediawiki/config directory.
This didn't have any effect on my mediawiki page since  it still seems 
to have german as default language.

Are there any other settings which I have to change ?
