[Mediawiki-l] Extensions in sync with phase3?

I need to modify an extension to take advantage of recent
changes in phase3. Is there an implicit expectation that
they should be in sync? In other words, is there any problem
with adding a non-backwards compatible change to an extension
for something in the current svn sources but not in the latest
public release? (It's a "searchableIPs()" change to CheckUser, FWIW).
