The SpamBlacklist anti-spam extension will block the most common spammers.

I found that the real problem on my wiki with these talk page spammers 
who weren't blocked by SpamBlacklist automatically were all coming from 
Asia Pacific Network.  Due to the fact that more spammers come out of 
that network than all others combined (for my site), I just blocked them 
with 222.0.0.0/24 in the blocked userid list.  That means that no one 
from Asia Pacific Network can update.
