[Mediawiki-l] Writing an Extension - Detecting Edits and Moves

I'm writing an extension which monitors edits and moves. Are there any variables by which I can detect whether the current user has tried to:
  1) Edit a page
2) Do a Page Move? 
  For example, $wgUser gives me the current user object.
