[Mediawiki-l] wiki with locked DB

We run our wiki against a DB server that dumps every night, which 
locks the tables to writing.  I've noticed that this blocks access to 
the wiki, as it can't create the session tickets for logins.  Is 
there any way to make the wiki accessable during this time?  It's ok 
if it requires making the entire thing readable, and obviously it 
can't be writable.
