Thanks Rob. It started to work with the folder name changed to low-case but the process seemed to crash and get the following messages:

-----
In C:\workplace: "C:\Archivos de programa\TortoiseCVS\cvs.exe" "-q" "checkout" "-P" "phase3"
CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous at cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/wikipedia

cvs [checkout aborted]: authorization failed: server cvs.sourceforge.net rejected access to /cvsroot/wikipedia for user anonymous

Error, CVS operation failed

In : "C:\Archivos de programa\TortoiseCVS\cvs.exe" "-q" "login"
CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous at cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/wikipedia

Logging in to :pserver:anonymous at cvs.sourceforge.net:2401:/cvsroot/wikipedia
cvs [login aborted]: authorization failed: server cvs.sourceforge.net rejected access to /cvsroot/wikipedia for user anonymous

Error, CVS operation failed

In C:\workplace: "C:\Archivos de programa\TortoiseCVS\cvs.exe" "-q" "checkout" "-P" "phase3"
CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous at cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/wikipedia

cvs checkout: Empty password used - try 'cvs login' with a real password

Success, CVS operation completed

Here the new configuration...

Extensions worked without a glitch

Could it be some kind of issue on the server side? A limitation in the number of concurrent anonymous connections? I think that if this is the case, the error message must be a bit more clear!

Just a couple of tips:

# As for pserver authentication, that is what MediaWiki site reads. But look at this from TortoiseCVS help file:

---
TortoiseCVS Client Installation Instructions
...
You will need your user name on SourceForge.net, and the project UNIX name. Fill in the dialog as follows:
Protocol: Secure Shell (:ext)
---

# As per the repository folder: my fault, it is again far clear in the MediaWiki site. The name of the project at SourceForge is Mediawiki and I've messed things up. My apologies. The name of the folder is clearly wikipedia.

Thanks for your help,

Ricardo

You need to use password-server (pserver) authentication. Also, the
repository folder is /CVSROOT/WIKIPEDIA (not "mediawiki").

On the other hand, by following TortoiseCVS documentation for using it with SourceForge projects Tortoise keeps asking for a password whatever the user is. Sorry, I'm a bit confused.
