[Mediawiki-l] wpEdittime wpStartTime

Is there any documentation on wpEdittime and wpStartTime?
I've searched but have only been able to find some threads that  
mention them briefly.

Apparently wpEdittime field contains the timestamp of the last edit  
of the article. Am i right to assume i can get wpEdittime for an  
article using $wgArticle->mTouched ?

Is wpStartTime the current timestamp?
It seems that only wpEdittime is used to check for conflicts.
What is wpStartTime used for.
