[Mediawiki-l] Parserfunctions, <th> becomes &lt;th&gt;

With the ParserFunctions extension, I get the <th>s and other html
tags inside an #if being turned into &gt;th&lt; as HTML. Wikipedia
doesn't seem to have this problem, even with identical templates. What
could be happening?

I'm using MediaWiki 1.6.3.
