[Mediawiki-l] Apache error code 20024 & MediaWiki

I have pursued the matter further:

1) the apache log shows 20024 error codes from the onstart of mediawiki
installation when "Special Pages" are accessed. The problem got worse when I
edited the "Sidebar" page and now Apache complains with system error dialogs
on _all_ "special pages" access. In other words, the Wikis are unuseable.

2) I have two Wikis installed under the same backend support (see original
email below viz Apache, MySQL etc.): BOTH OF THEM exhibit the same problem
AND I only edited the "sidebar" page from one of them !!

3) Each wiki is installed in its own database i.e. not sharing a database
under different prefixes.

4) I have reinstalled XAMPP 1.5.3a package [Apache, MySQL, PHP] and kept the
original wiki MySQL databases.

** Thus, I would tend to believe that MediaWiki 1.6.7 breaks a critical
system table on MySQL.

Any help appreciated!

+ a crash report from windows about Apache...

but can't seem to find an answer.
 
Any hint?  
There problems started soon after I edited "MediaWiki:Sidebar" but I can't
tell for sure if there is a correlation.
