I disagree with you about the way the web "should" work.

Don't you think God also invented difference of opinion between people?

Don't you think God also created the different opening options on the <a> 
link?

Don't you think God also invented defaults?

Don't you think God allowed easy configuration of the things people want to 
change in software?
