MediaWiki is developed to match the ongoing requirements of Wikipedia and her
sister sites, and will continue to be so developed for the forseeable future.

Releases are made for the convenience of other people who also use our software.
We attempt to strike a balance between stability and timeliness; release too
often and we might as well just say "get it from SVN", release too rarely and
everybody complains they're missing the cool features they see on Wikipedia.

Currently we're making quarterly snapshot releases, so the next major release
will be 1.8 in October.
