I also have image issues on Wikicompany:

The cause on this Wiki is that thumbnailing does not work, because the Wiki's
PHP module is running with safe_mode enabled. For uploading images, I have a
permission fix on the upload directory and the apache process.

The MW thumbnailing system needs to be done from within the Wiki web directory tree.

I haven't had the time to create a good setup for this yet, but perhaps this
could all (or most of it) be done automatically by the MW install/setup process
(if safe_mode is enabled).
