Hi Thomas,

i spend a lot time today in trying out this ... I found this:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SelectCategory

So i installed a MW 1.9 from SVN for testing ... and ... :-)

The extension works fine!

In approx. 3 weeks the 1.9 will be release, an I think, I will migrate at end of 
january to 1.9 with my production-wikis. Including this extension :)
